Great news! Irrational Games has finally announced what the follow up is to BioShock.
After just about three years of wondering and waiting we can now look forward to the Floating City of Columbia and BioShock Infinite.
Irrational Games has recently released a sneak peek of the Floating City as well as BioShock Infinite. The sneak peek tells a story that leads into what the Floating City of Columbia is all about. In short, you play a private detective named Booker Dewitt who just picked up a new case. The case involves finding a girl who has been kidnapped and returning her to safety. The problem is she is hidden on the Floating City of Columbia. As luck would have it, the city is heavily armed and guarded.
Before going into detail about the game, the sneak peek depicts a man who slowly but surely falls to his death. Within a few seconds, the character who is to fall is tossed out a window after being drowned in a fish tank. As he is falling he spots a city that is floating. Luckily for him the city is held up by massive hot air balloons. After safely landing on one of the balloons the worst happens. The man loses his grip on the balloon that he was holding on to and ultimately falls to what we presume is his death.
Crazy, huh? Well, much like the original BioShock, the BioShock Infinite trailer goes into great detail to depict the images of the death of a character in the game. The setting for BioShock Infinite may seem like it is more technologically advanced than Rapture but in all reality the game is set in the year 1912. The city of Columbia is a major accomplishment of the time period because it floats around the world as kind of a traveling world’s fair. Pretty Cool! The bad part is that after an international incident occurs the city just up and disappears. Obviously, this leaves agent DeWitt with a major problem in his quest to locate the kidnapped girl.
